About
Evidence, not inference.
NextMove is a source-led watchlist for the moment before you need to react. The current alpha is deliberately confined to company tracking and documented public records. It is not an all-in-one job-search platform, and it is not a model of anyone's future.
Operating premise
Context should arrive before urgency.
When a company changes, the useful question is not simply whether to react. It is what changed, what evidence supports it, and what should be verified next. That framing only works if the evidence is real and its limits are stated.
So NextMove reports documented records and nothing else. There is no model here, no rating, no percentage, no number attached to a company. Public filings cannot honestly support one, and inventing one would make the product feel more certain than the underlying data ever is.
Current alpha scope
Two kinds of record. Nothing else.
- State WARN notices
- Published by each state's labor agency. Twenty-one of the fifty states are connected today, and Connections names every one of them alongside the states that are not. This is not nationwide WARN coverage: a notice filed in a state that is not connected never reaches this product at all.
- SEC 8-K Item 2.05 restructuring disclosures
- A company's own statement, filed with the SEC, that it has committed to an exit or disposal plan. Nationwide in reach but limited to SEC-reporting companies, and Item 2.05 covers closures, contract exits and asset disposals as well as workforce reductions — so a filing is not itself evidence of layoffs.
NextMove compares your tracked companies against these records and preserves what it retrieved. It does not claim nationwide coverage, hiring signals, job availability, or certainty of any kind.
Retrieval sometimes fails partway through a paginated source. When that happens the interface says so, and any company that did not match is reported as inconclusive rather than clear. That distinction is the difference between a record and a reassurance.
What stays out of scope
No job-board workflow.
No job matching, applications, resumes, networking outreach, interview preparation, salary estimates, or hidden-opening claims. Those were cut on purpose. Every one of them would have required asserting something the data could not support.
Operating principles
Watch the companies that matter
A private watchlist gives your career decisions a stable place to start, without turning the product into a job-search workflow.
Keep public evidence inspectable
Every record keeps its official publisher, its retrieval timestamp, its notice detail when the source provides it, and any limit encountered during retrieval.
Treat an absence as an absence
A WARN notice is meaningful evidence. The absence of one is not evidence of anything. Missing records are never presented as a broad all-clear.
